How do you prevent the mosquito larvae in your pond, cistern or change swimming pool to grow into a new load of mosquitoes in your bedroom? First: to avoid if possible area’s where spots where water can accumulate, like empty flower pots or buckets. In water reservoirs, such as birdbaths, need regular water changing. A weeks old water can already be a breeding ground for a new generation of buzzing nightmares. In hot weather the conditions for the mosquitoes are even better, it makes the eggs hatch faster, so be more vigilant during those times. In a pool, you can kill the mosquito larvae by adding chlorine. The dead larvae will float on the surface and can be easily scooped up with a cleaning net. Through these various precautions you limit the possibilities for larvae to grow into adult mosquitoes.

Mosquitoes live near water. They deliver their eggs in still water, where the larvae grow into adult mosquitoes. The root of the problem therefore is those breeding grounds. In a garden there are often countless areas where mosquitoes can deposit their eggs. You can think of examples like:

- a filled bucket or flower pot
- a birdbath
- the pond
- the swimming pool
